We asked your Sonoma winemakers all the same question:
What is it about this place that made you fall in love?

Every time you walk a vineyard row, you cannot help but be inspired by majestic surroundings. A little piece of wine heaven.
After making Australia’s most collectible wine – Penfolds Grange – and winning multiple international Winemaker of the Year titles, Daryl Groom was given THE opportunity: to move to California to make wine in Sonoma County. He called it a winemaker’s dream come true!
Working as an independent winemaker for Naked Wines, Daryl loves showing off wines from Australia and his California home – Russian River Valley.
“Of all the premier growing regions in the world, Sonoma ranks at the top. It’s a playground in climate, soils, varietal makeup, viticulture, and cultural diversity,” he said.
Even the world’s best winemakers just wanna have fun. And Sonoma is where producers like Daryl can show off their chops – and you can heartily enjoy the best results.
Why Daryl Groom loves Russian River Valley most:
“Of all its 19 appellations, my heart lies with Russian River Valley. The perfect climate. Warm-to-hot days that softly ripen fruit. Cool, foggy nights and mornings that keep nature moving at a perfect pace.
Every time you walk a vineyard row, you cannot help but be inspired by majestic surroundings. A little piece of wine heaven.”
